Makeup essentials for beginners !
- Moisturizer
The basic function of moisturizers is to
help treat your skin when it's dry and prevent it from drying
out again. Moisturizers do this by holding water in the
stratum corner, the outermost layer of the skin . But they
have other functions as well.
- Primer
Makeup primer is a base for foundation or face
makeup that allows it to go on smoother and last longer. Formulas are available in cream, gel
and powder. ... Physicians Formula's makeup artist Joanna Schlip notes makeup primers can
also help smooth any fine lines, wrinkles or large pores.
- Foundation
Foundation is a liquid or powder makeup applied to the face
to create an even, uniform color to the complexion, cover flaws and, sometimes,
to change the natural skin tone. Some foundations also
function as a moisturizer, sunscreen, astringent or base layer for more complex
cosmetics.
- Concealer
A concealer or
color corrector is a type of cosmetic that is used to mask dark circles, age
spots, large pores, and other small blemishes visible on the skin.
It is similar to foundation, but thicker and used to hide different pigments by
blending the imperfection into the surrounding skin tone.
- Powder
Face powder is a cosmetic powder applied
to the face to set a foundation after
application. It can also be reapplied throughout the day to minimize shininess
caused by oily skin. There is translucent sheer powder, and there is pigmented powder. Certain types of
pigmented facial powders are meant be worn alone with no base foundation.
Powder tones the face and gives an even appearance. Besides toning the face,
some powders with sunscreen can also
reduce skin damage from sunlight and
environmental stress. It comes packaged either as a compact or as loose powder.
It can be applied with a sponge, brush, or powder puff. Uniform distribution over the
face is achieved more easily when a loose powder is applied.
- Bronzer
Bronzer is used to emulate a sun-kissed glow and enhance a tan. Bronzing makeup can be used to darken areas of the skin without masking it, or to add warmth. Bronzer is a great way to make your skin look radiant and healthy.
- Blush
Flushed cheeks have been a mainstay of makeup
glamour for centuries. If you want to add a bit more color and vibrancy to your
complexion, blush may be the key. Use a dense brush with plenty of bristles to
apply your blush—this will make sure you get the most out of every blush sweep.
- Highlighter
highlighter is
face makeup that attracts light, creating the illusion of brightness and
height, hence that lit-from-within look. Celebs often use it in addition to
contouring to lift and push features back, according to makeup artist JennyPatinkin.
- Eye shadow
Eye shadow can add depth and dimension to one's eyes, complement
one's eye color, make one's eyes appear larger, or simply draw attention to the
eyes. Eye shadow comes in many different colors and textures. It is usually
made from a powder and mica, but can
also be found in liquid, pencil, cream or mousse form. Just like other
trends, eye-shadow looks also have trends.
- Eyeliner
Eye Makeup
Products include products that are used around the eye to enhance the
appearance of the eyes and to emphasize the beauty of the eyes. They include
such products as eye-shadow, eye-liner, eye-brow products, and other products
that can help to enhance and accent the eyes.
- Mascara
Mascara is a cosmetic commonly used to enhance the
eyelashes. It may darken, thicken, lengthen, and/or define the eyelashes.
- Lips Products
Before
applying makeup, prime your lips . Just outside the natural lip contour,
draw a fine line with lip-liner. This prevents the color from bleeding or
feathering. Trace the
lip contour with exact precision. Apply the Lipstick in the same shade as the contour pencil. The color will look
richer if it is applied with the Lip Brush. Paint the color directly from the
lipstick onto the lips.
